Wellfound, formerly AngelList Talent, is primarily a startup jobs board — salaried roles, equity-only roles, and internships, searchable by startup. Some early-stage founders list a co-founder role there instead of a job post, but that's a workaround, not what the platform was built for.

Because of that, a Wellfound listing reads like a job post: a role, a stack, a location. It's useful once you already know exactly what gap you need filled — 'need a technical co-founder who knows React Native' — but it's not built for the messier, earlier stage of figuring out who you're even looking for.

Krooko starts one step earlier. A card describes what you're building and what kind of partner would make it work, and people can message you before either side has fully defined the role — which is often how the best partnerships actually start.

Wellfound also skews toward funded or funding-track startups, since it's a hiring platform at heart. Krooko has no such assumption — most people join with just an idea, and a card works exactly the same whether the thing you're building is one week old or one year old.

If you already know the exact skill set and title you need, Wellfound's search is efficient. If you're still figuring out who you need and want to be found based on what you're building rather than a job title, Krooko is the better starting point.
